Ingredients:
2 c barley ½ t mixed herbs 1 T tomato paste 1 T + 1 t chicken style powder 15 c water ½ t salt ½ t cumin 1 T cold pressed olive oil ½ t turmeric
Vegetables:
1 c carrots, diced 1½ c potatoes, diced 1 c celery diced
Method:
Soak barley in water overnight.
Drain.
Place barley in a large saucepan with the 15 c water.
Add all the ingredients except the vegetables.
Bring to the boil.
Reduce heat to half.
Cook for 45 mins.
Add the vegetables.
Cook till barley is very tender. (If too thick, add some more water.)
Check seasonings.
